If a project is close to water, a greater protection may be required. Options to upgrade the galvinsed coating are available. However, in most cases as a result of the quality of the COEM galvanizing process, the 40g is sufficient.
A common problem is the substitution of cheap substandard raw materials, such as seconds in steel, zinc or powder coating rather than galvanisation. Substandard cleaning chemicals are often used, and in some cases omitted entirely. The galv solution may be aged and not checked for impurities.
